Twitter Addict

TV stations around central Illinois have repeatedly aired meth addiction commercials. Meth is a serious situation around here. I used to work for non for profit substance abuse agency, so it’s no laughing matter. However, I came across the anti-drug dog video from collegehumor.com. This video showed the comedic view of the anti-drug commercials.

It sparked the idea for this video. A lot of people are using twitter now and some can get out of control. Don’t let your friends become a tweet head. It’s hard to use twitter.com once. Just once, then you become a tweet head & you can’t stop it.

Credits involved in this video: Nick Schmidt aka Schmult & Kristen Nicole (Lead writer for mashable.com). My twitter account & Kristen’s twitter account.

Other Twitters featured in this video: Chris Brogan (twitter), Jen Simmons (twitter), Miss Bhavens (twitter).

F.S.R. present from Sarah & Rich Also featured in this video are a few F.S.R. weekly presents from my friends. Sarah & Rich both provided me with the t shirt and mouse pad for this video. Thanks guys!!!

Helio break down like Rob & Big

Broken Helio

For one of my F.S.R. presents I received this awesome indoor helicopter (helio). My friend Elaine wanted me to open it before I went into the hospital. I was soooo excited about this present!! So I ran to Walgreens grabbed some new batteries and laxatives. The perfect combo.

I wanted to make a video of me playing with it and show it to you. However, I had to practice to make sure I can operate the helio within the viewing screen of the video camera. Well throughout the practice, the helio ran into walls, dressers, ceilings, and more. Then it came across the vacuum cleaner. It hit the vacuum and broke. NOOOOOOOO!!!! It lasted about an hour.

I tried to fix it with some scotch tape, as you can see didn’t work. Thank god with Elaine’s IVY league education, she was smart enough to buy a year warranty so I can return it to Brookstone and get a new one.

So this all reminded me of one of my favorite tv shows, Rob and Big. The episode is below and it shows them trying to find Rob a hot non dirty girl on myspace and they took up the new hobby of Helios too. You can see how fast it takes to break these, in the video.

However, I haven’t found my hot good girl on myspace or anywhere else, yet. But, I have found a relation of how easy it is to break helios. Maybe some of my friends can help me with this, just like in the TV show?

Enjoy the episode. If you can’t view the video: Click here

Surgery 5/16/08

Finally surgery time is here. It’s scheduled for Friday May 16 at 7:30am (EST). I have to be there at 5:30am, plus they are an hour ahead of us, so it will feel like 4:30am for me.grrr Plus I have another fun filled day of liquids an laxatives on Thursday.

So the Urologist is going to be in the surgery this time. If you don’t know the details go back to this old post for more details.

Only thing new is that it looks like I’m going to lose a kidney. However, you only need one and the other one works fine. So no big deal. Hopefully they won’t have to reconstruction my bladder and my large intestine/colon. Plus I hope I don’t have a poop bag. That would suck and include more surgery.

I’m going to be in the hospital for 7 days, I don’t know how the internet situation will be, but I will twitter with my phone. You can ‘follow’ me on http://twitter.com/Schmult. or just watch the orange box on the right hand side of my website.

Let’s DO THIS!!
I will talk to all of you soon

Much love!!

Surgery Canceled

The surgeon just called me. The surgery is canceled for tomorrow.

Urologist isn’t going to be available tomorrow (I didn’t even know I would have a Urologist).  Plus, my blood counts are low. We will give it another week to recover from the last chemotherapy.

So another week of waiting. I assume the surgery will be next week. We will see..

And another time of drinking more laxatives. Maybe I should do a video on that… ?? Hmmmm.

Surgery Time

I saw my oncologist last week. The tumors have shrunk and have separated from my abdominal area. One tumor was actually clamping down on my vena cava and it has released its self from the vein. However, the other tumors are still big, but they all have shrunk down into a size so that they are operable.

So my oncologist scheduled a meeting with the sarcoma surgeon. He went through all the options of the surgery and told me all the risks. They won’t know which option to use until after they open me up. The cut will probably be twice the size of a C-section. So basically just below my breastbone down to my pubic area, straight down the middle.

When they cut tumors out, they have to cut around the tumor, which is usually attached to organ, muscle, and/or anything. So I could lose an organ and glands. Plus, maybe have some reconstruction. You never know. Just like they don’t know if the cancer will come back or not. Also, I don’t even know if I done with the chemotherapy. Maybe I will have radiation too? I’m not sure. I will find out more after the surgery, I’m sure.

The surgery will be May 8 at Indiana University in Indianapolis. The surgery will start around 9:30am (EST) and will last for about 6 hours. I will be in the hospital for about 7 days. I hope to recover fast so I can get out of the hospital ASAP, so I don’t have to eat their food. Worse food ever!!!!

Thanks for all the love, support, and prayers. I may or may not be on the internet for a week or more. Plus I don’t know if I will have internet connection in my room or not. So check my twitter account for quick and fast updates (orange box on the right hand side of the website). http://twitter.com/Schmult. I maybe updating it with my phone.

Let’s do this!!
Much love.

Video Ad

A while ago, Liz Straus contacted me to inform me about SOBCon08, but I wouldn’t be able to go because I was scheduled to go into the hospital for a 5 day chemo treatment. However, they did have a contest to win a Nokia N95, that was being hosted by Utterz.com. The contest was to do a small 1 min ad of why people should read/subscribe to your blog/vlog.

Of course I did this competition because I would love a new gadget, unfortunetly, I didn’t win. In addition, the ad did get picked up in a article for HowtoSplitAnAtom.com. The article is entitled “What we Gain from Video”. It’s a very interesting post and you should check it out. Steve always have interesting views and well thought out posts on his website. Hence, why I subscribe to it too.

Here are some quotes from the article;

“I really liked what he did with the medium and after watching it, it got me thinking about Social Media’s growing obsession with video.”

“Taking another look at the Nick’s video, I think there is something to be said about video in the context of personal branding. One block of text can be extremely difficult to differentiate from another block of text, and worse than that text provides very few clues as to the emotional context of the person writing. In advertising of any kind, emotion is critical to conveying message. In these situations, we see that the point of video is not to deliver information but to convey personality.”

Check out the video and see what you think. Does it make you want to subscribe to my blog? I guess I will see if my subscriptions will increase.
